Article 2 of 4: Vision, Intuition and Insight
How many flights do you take every year? Can you count them on one hand? If you are a Dubai citizen or resident then the answer is likely no. Flight has probably become such a commonplace part of your life that you hardly think twice when you are soaring 30,000 feet in the air and the world is spread out like a children’s atlas beneath you. Today, Emirates alone operates over 3,600 flights per week, and when you take one of those flights you are only one of 56 million passengers who do the same every year.
BUT until just over a century ago, flight was still a vision. And it was a fanciful vision at that — one of a future where humans could “soar freely through space on the infinite highway of the air.” To add insult to injury, this vision was also based on a whimsical intuition: “If birds can glide for long periods of time, then…why can’t I?” Both of these quotes come from Orville Wright of the Wright Brothers, who invented, built and flew the world’s first successful powered airplane in December 1903.
Throughout the ages, this magical combination of vision and intuition has motivated great minds to pursue the impossible. So why did great inventors and scientists before the Wright Brothers, like Abbas bin Firnas, Leonardo da Vinci, Sir George Cayley, Octave Chanute, Otto Lilienthal, Samuel Langley and countless others, fail in the same endeavour? I believe it is because vision and intuition live in the future; they anticipate, they foresee and they imagine, but alone they cannot achieve.
All businesses can learn from this. At MAG Lifestyle Development, we have a clear vision to be a future-shaping, customer-centric lifestyle development company that is always surpassing expectations. This is based on our intuition that customer desires and needs will continue to change dramatically over the coming years, and that the best way to cater to this change is to move beyond bricks-and-mortar by creating unique concepts that proactively improve our customers’ lives. Our vision and intuition are captured by our new ‘lovemark’, or logo, which is inspired by the human eye.
However, the exciting future we imagine for real estate development is not enough. Our ‘lovemark’ also represents the missing ingredient that will give our intuition substance and bring our vision to life: insight.
This same value was what set the Wright Brothers apart. They made their flight dreams a reality by gaining an accurate, deep understanding of aviation and the countless other industries and disciplines surrounding it, such as physics, aerodynamics and even sailing. They achieved this through tireless experimentation. From 19th September to 24th October 1902 alone they made between 700 and 1,000 experimental glides, which led to the development of three separate prototypes of the ‘Wright Flyer.’ They also worked with partners who had a great understanding of their endeavour, including their skilled shop mechanic Charlie Taylor, who once built an engine for them in just six short weeks.
At MAG Lifestyle Development, we pour our efforts into gaining similarly deep insights into our own sector. We conduct in-depth market research to assess demand, detect the latest trends and identify the most strategic locations in order to guarantee ROI for our customers. We consider the industries that have a ripple effect on the real estate sector, including tourism, business and retail, as well as the infrastructure that surrounds our projects. By assessing the big picture, we ensure that we are enhancing our city while also placing our residents at its heart, where they can benefit from its growth and development. We work with the best in the business to bring our customers the best, and collaborate with leading global companies like Rolls Royce, Gulf Sotheby’s and Delos to strengthen our global expertise and continuously heighten our quality standards. Insight brings vision and intuition into the present day — out of the world of fantasy and into the realm of possibility.
Speaking about their endeavour, the Wright Brothers simply said: “We could hardly wait to get up in the morning.” At MAG Lifestyle Development we feel the same. By combining our ambitious vision and intuition with clear, down-to-earth insight, we are excited to be sparking a paradigm shift in the real estate sector.
