The MAG Lifestyle Development ‘Lovemark’ – more than meets the eye

Article 4 of 4: Desire, Beauty, Mystique
Over the past four months, I have enjoyed giving you a private tour of MAG Lifestyle Development’s new ‘lovemark’ and sharing my personal insights into the values that underpin it. So far, we have explored assurance, attention to detail, care, focus, foresight, fortune, insight, intuition and vision, but I have saved beauty, desire and mystique for the final piece in my four-part series because they hold a particularly special meaning for me and everyone at MAG LD this year.
To illustrate why, I would like to tell you the story of a man who was in love with his country. In his childhood and early adulthood, he developed an unshakeable bond with the vast, mysterious desert and learnt its customs. He built close ties with the people who called it home, became a master of traditional Arabic arts including falconry, horse riding, crafts and poetry, and developed an innate passion for nature that would stay with him for the rest of his days. He also gave the desert new life by planting millions of new trees, protecting its wildlife, boosting its ground water reserves and promoting agriculture to put man at one with his environment. Where others had seen a challenge, he had seen a beautiful opportunity.
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, opened our eyes to the astounding beauty of the UAE and unlocked its rich resources to ensure that his people had everything their hearts could desire. Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and indeed all of the seven emirates, exist because he inspired his people to love the nation in the same way that he did — by supporting its ambitious development while also preserving and celebrating its heritage. His pioneering yet humble life was the perfect balance of these two elements.
During the Year of Zayed and beyond, MAG LD will uphold his legacy by continuing to enhance the beauty of the UAE in line with his vision for the nation. This endeavor is also underpinned by two of his main goals: improving people’s lives by fulfilling their desires and maintaining the UAE’s mystique — that distinct sense that there is always more around the corner for the nation and its people.
